Photo Team VA & FL
submitted by team member Melinda Reidy:
Two folks from northern Virginia and three from Florida worked to accomplish three distinct mini-missions. For two days, all five volunteers photographed the 640+ students at the VOH school, the University students at their Port au Prince apartment, and the 17 residents at Little Children of Jesus. What a joy to meet each of our subjects and share a smile, a hug, a dance, or a short conversation.
At night, the team began to crop and label the digital photos in the new screened porch at Hope House. What a fan-tas-tic blessing to work with overhead lights/fans, inverter power for our computers, screens to keep out the bugs, and a roof to protect us from the rains and ants falling from the trees! For couple of days, the team worked with Bert and Roberta counting, labeling, and packaging medications for the mobile medical team to dispense.
The last two days, Roberta and the folks from Virginia visited art galleries, art supply stores, artist workshops, and the "Apparent Project" (www.apparentproject.org) to search out prospective Haitian teachers and potential supply sources for the 2012 Summer Enrichment Program.
God also blessed us with great weather for taking photos, the opportunity to participate in the primary student's chapel, and the time to tour the health clinic construction.
