Village of Hope Lazarus Project

May 7 - 13 Joyful Spirit

The team divided in two with half of them spending the week assisting at Little Children of Jesus. While Julie did physiotherapy the others helped with feeding, bathing and led play activities with the kids.  The “construction” side of the gang, completed the school incinerator project and put a roof over the latrine for the secondary building.

A few odd jobs at Hope House also got attended to.  One of the items was installing a “doggie/cat” door for Opie and Hopie.  Two of the team members thought that demonstrating to Opie and Hopie, how to go through the door may help so down on their hands and knees they got and squeezed through the doorway.  The cat and dog were not too impressed but the rest of us sure had a good laugh.  Coaxing the pets  with doggie and cat treats didn’t work either. We’ll keep trying to seduce them through, but maybe in the end we will have to take it out.

The 5 newcomers to the team enjoyed their visit to Food for the Poor and got a good taste of Haitian traffic on the way home.
Special Notes:   Pastor Josh’s guitar playing, as he led the evening devotions, was a boon and added greatly to the “motley choir” with whom he had to work.    The team enjoyed playing cards each evening and sharing jokes and conversation.  We enjoyed hearing their laughter and witnessing their enjoyment in their activities and with each other.
