Village of Hope Lazarus Project

June 17- 23, 2011
Bethel Lutheran Church
Green Bay, WI

Work Assignment: Prepared and distributed  packages of meals from Kids Against Hunger for distribution to the school children.  Served beverages to the school children at the special year-end chicken dinner. Painted at the school. Prepared the garden areas at the school for the upcoming Enrichment Team gardening class. Built picnic tables for the school and Hope House.

Other Activities: Visited the children at Little Children of Jesus. The parachute game was a tremendous hit with the children. Toured Food for the Poor, Port Au Prince, the earthquake memorial site, and the artisans at the tin shops.

The teams’ evening devotions were very special. The topics which were prepared in advance reflected the experiences of the day.  They were also enhanced by the singing voices of the team members and Pastor Amy’s musical fingers on the guitar.

Special Notes:The team members ranged in age from 15 to 74 which also added wonderful flavor to the dynamics of the team and to our evening discussions.

The team was given a 10/10 for listening to our advice about keeping hydrated... drink ..drink… drink….. How many Culligan bottles did we go through?! …..thus their nickname..the Water for Elephants team….yes, I did plagiarize a bit.
