July 17- 24, 2011 Work Assignment: Enrichment Team Other Activities:The team visited with the residents at Little Children of Jesus and the children at Marie Majors’ orphanage. After a busy week at school, the team enjoyed a trip to Wahoo Bay Beach. They also visited the earthquake memorial site. Special Notes:The team did an outstanding job providing enrichment courses to the children at Village of Hope School. The students participated in classes that appealed to a variety of interests. Some students created note cards using water colors, some painted pictures using acrylics. The weaving class used paper, reed, and yarn to created woven baskets, and mats. The Health and Wellness class determined their BMI (Body mass index) and enjoyed lots of physical activities designed to improve their fitness. The woodworkers learned about tools and wood and created a wooden bench. The gardening class planted seedlings to take home as well as planted flowers near the chapel. Other classes included kite making, story-telling, cross stitching, knitting, various jewelry making classes using paper, wire and embroidery thread. At the end of the week, we held an assembly where each class described their work and displayed their creations. The students have remarkable talent and we are confident that many seeds were planted (outside of the garden class!) that will grow with the students. VOH is so blessed by the Enrichment Team for their time and talents, and commitment to living His word.
