Village of Hope Lazarus Project

Feb 19 - 24, 2011
St. John Lutheran, Alex. VA, St. John Lutheran, Houston, TX and St. Matthew Lutheran, St Charles, MN

Work Assignment:   Some of the team repaired the wall and ceiling to the red door depot room that had been damaged during the earthquake.   They also tackled  renovations to Joel’s room: fixing a leak in the roof,  replacing the ceiling in the bathroom, painting all the walls, and installed a new ceiling fan.  Others contributed to the ongoing task of organizing the main depot while others spread stone in front of the  Anderson’s cottage and depot. They also pre-cut lumber for benches for the school. We appreciate the “sweat equity” they cheerfully supplied to accomplish these tasks.

Other Activities:
The team had great fun while leading the “craft hour” at Grace Mission.  It was mutually beneficial to all as  the team was entranced with the girls and the girls enjoyed the painting of stain glass decorations.

Special Notes:
Tom and Liz Milks were proud to have their son, Pastor Stephen, and two of his congregation members join the team.  He graced us by leading the service for the kids on Sunday morning. Liz did an outstanding job of leading the evening devotions, providing all of us good food for thought.

It was satisfying to see how the team members  coming from divergent areas of the country (Texas, Virginia and Minnesota ) all meshed and worked so well together for the “common cause”.  It was like they had known and worked with each other for years.
