Missions

April 13-18, 2007
Prince of Peace, Springfield, VA

The 14 members of the Prince of Peace, Springfield team left this morning after a busy week.  Of the 14, 11 were members of POP and 3 were from other churches.  Three had been here before, with the others being first-timers

Their main work consisted in refinishing the pews in the chapel (again--they did this two years ago), building benches for the dining hall, distributing shoes at VOH and doing numerous activities with Marie's girls.  The team was able to interact quite a bit with the students at VOH, much to everyone's delight.

On Sunday the team put on a puppet show, telling the story of Noah's ark.  After church on Sunday, we enjoyed the buffet at Visa Lodge, then spent a delightful afternoon at Notre Maison with Jorel Carte.  We were able to spend most of a morning at Food for the Poor where the team was impressed with the number of ministries they provide.

The team blessed us with numerous gifts--peanut butter, shoes, t-shirts and many other items that were on Margaret's food list.  At least 3 indicated an intention to come back and participate in the Enrichment Event.  One made a commitment to fund  the university education of one of the Philo students who impressed her and at least two found children they wanted to sponsor.
