May 27- Jun 3, 2009
Ascension, Fond du Lac WI and
St. Paul, Sarasota FL

The five members of the Ascension, Fond du Lac team left this morning, leaving the three members from St. Paul, Sarasota with us for two more days. The FDL team, led by Pastor Jeff Blain, arrived on Wednesday, May 27, while the Sarasota group came on Saturday the 30th.  The FDL team brought somewhere between 600 and 700 tubes of toothpaste with them which were put together with soap from the Wheatland Salem container and toothbrushes which had been on hand at Hope House to form a mini hygiene kit.  Another day was spent distributing these kits at both the Village of Hope and Grace schools, bringing many smiles to the faces of many students.  The team also visited Little Children of Jesus with Jorel Carte who entertained both the team and the children with his accordion.

The team also enjoyed a moving visit to Food for the Poor's Haitian facility where one of the highlights was meeting Robin Mafood who was with a FFP pilgrimage group.

Besides assembling and distributing the mini-kits, the team did numerous little repair jobs around Hope House, including hanging new clothesline wire, cleaning the vegetation off the barbed wire on top the Hope House wall and reinstalling part of the wire that had come loose.
