Godspell Jr
This was our Second Annual Emmanuel Drama Camp to benefit the Village of Hope.

Youth from Grades 6-12 were invited to register for the one week summer camp, paying a tuition similar to other drama camps offered in our area.  The professional staff volunteered their time and included a young woman who is finishing a Masters Degree in Fine Arts and Direction, a man who manages set design at various local theaters, two music teachers from our county school system, the church's Minister of Music, and--to guide the youth in spiritual reflection--Emmanuel's Youth Minister and me, the Senior Pastor.   We contracted with a music company in New York City to present "Godspell Junior"--a shorter version of the original musical, "Godspell."

The cast worked to help design and build sets; to learn lines, music and choreography; and finally to present two performances at the end of the week.

Free will offerings taken after their shows...as well as proceeds from the camp tuition...netted over $5500 for the Village of Hope School and Clinic.  Everyone enjoyed the experience, and we hope to offer the Drama Camp again next summer.  As our pregnant director said, "I can't make a mission trip to Haiti...but I can do this for the Village of Hope!"

Blessings!  Pastor Beth

FRIENDSHIP BRACELETS:
My name is Grace M. and I am 11 years old and I live in Willow Grove, PA.   I enjoy making friendship bracelets.  My Aunt Marni does a lot of work with the children of Haiti and I was inspired to do something too.  My idea was to make friendship bracelets and sell them for a dollar at school, but as soon as word got around lots of people wanted them and it was hard to keep up with all the orders!   It’s been fun and so far I have raised $45 and I’m still going. Houses for Haiti Pins June 2010
A BIG CheckA donation of $725.00 is being mailed to Village of Hope, Inc., for the Earthquake Relief Fund.
This money comes from Dale Mabry Elementary School students in Tampa raising funds by making Houses for Haiti pins.  Ms. Nanette Dailey is the art teacher who did a wonderful job instructing the children in making of their products, then selling them to the community.  Ms. Dailey asked that this money be used to buy supplies for the children at Village of Hope.

Ms. Dailey had both Matthew and Alexis Hafer (both students at Dale Mabry), as well as Andy Hafer, on the school’s Morning Show presenting the check.  At that time the students were thanked for doing a great job.  Also, during the show the elementary children were told about Village of Hope and the students who attend there. A big thank you to everyone who played a part in the Earthquake Relief Fund.

Uno's Fundraiser raised over $700 for Stop Hunger Now. Thanks to everyone from the area who dined at Kingstowne Uno’s to raise funds for Stop Hunger Now - Food for Haiti .  In February over 700 Stop Hunger Now volunteers, including 15 volunteers from Uno’s Kingstowne, working at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Springfield, packed 144,000 dehydrated meals for Haiti following their devastating earthquake. The Uno’s fundraisers in February and April raised over $700 toward the goal of more than $35,000 and helped pay for the cost of meal ingredients, shipping to Haiti and local transportation. The container was shipped on Feb 23, arrived at the port in Haiti on March 2, and arrived at the Food for the Poor warehouse on March 25. On March 26, Debbie Berquist, Lazarus Project Haiti Director, picked up the meals which she is distributing to orphans, students, teachers, staff members and others in need.

BIRTHDAY GIFTSKathy's Birthday gifts!
Jason collected cans of Vienne Sausages for kids in Haiti instead of more toys for himself!Jason, an 8 year old from Fairfax, VA, asked that everyone bring Vienna Sausages for the kids in Haiti to his 8th birthday party rather than a gift for himself. For his 7th birthday he asked for socks for the kids in Haiti! Jason's generosity has been a witness to his friends and has inspired others to do the same. Jason's Mom, Kathy, did the same for her birthday and collected over 20 lbs of Vienna Sausages!
